P-day at San Ignacio

Image
Luke had the "BEST PDAY EVER!"  So much better than hanging out at the chapel.  :)  This inspired he and the other missionaries to do things on their Pdays more often.   He said the ruins were amazing.  It was so pretty there that he felt like he was on vacation and not on the mission anymore :)  He said that the ruins had a baptismal font from the 1600s.  Talk about a neat opportunity!  Glad he got to see some Argentinian sights!

Heading to San Ignacio today....so just a quick update!

We didn't get to talk to Luke for long today because he is taking a bus to San Ignacio.  San Ignacio is one of the many missions founded in 1610 in Argentina by the Jesuits in what the colonial Spaniards called the Province of Paraguay of the Americas during the Spanish colonial period.  The ruins there are one of the best preserved of Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina.  There are remains of a church, cemetery, a monastery and houses.   I can't wait to see Luke's pictures after his visit!  He's so excited because most P-days consist of them playing around at the church building.  Glad he gets to go out and explore! He did give us an update on some of his friends...(they had a great week and had 6 people at church!) They found a new family to work with names the Familia Gonzalez.  They are a family of 6 and years ago the mom and kids joined the church but went inactive.  The records didn't even have the name of the father and so it seemed like h...

MLC and still 5 at church - Stake Conference none the less

This week was MLC (Mission Leader Conference) and so there wasn't a tone of time to work in Luke's area.  Even with all that time taken away Luke and Elder Childs had 5 people at church!  AND it was Stake Conference and they had to travel a distance to get there!  So that is great success! This week they got a referral from the ward clerk and so they went to find the people.  They went and couldn't find the house.  So they called and called the person with no luck.  Finally they answered and the lady had her husband come out and meet them in the street.  It's a good thing she did, it was tucked back in the jungle and they never would have found them!  The house was tiny and not in good shape.  The woman talked and talked about their problems and they couldn't get a word in edge-wise.  Finally Luke and his companion stopped her and said "If you will listen to us we will share a message of where you can find peace from all these prob...
