MLC and still 5 at church - Stake Conference none the less
This week was MLC (Mission Leader Conference) and so there wasn't a tone of time to work in Luke's area. Even with all that time taken away Luke and Elder Childs had 5 people at church! AND it was Stake Conference and they had to travel a distance to get there! So that is great success!
This week they got a referral from the ward clerk and so they went to find the people. They went and couldn't find the house. So they called and called the person with no luck. Finally they answered and the lady had her husband come out and meet them in the street. It's a good thing she did, it was tucked back in the jungle and they never would have found them! The house was tiny and not in good shape. The woman talked and talked about their problems and they couldn't get a word in edge-wise. Finally Luke and his companion stopped her and said "If you will listen to us we will share a message of where you can find peace from all these problems!" She stopped talking and they were able to share a message about the Restoration. Then at the end they asked them to pray about what they told them. They shared a sample prayer and what they could say in their prayer. And right then the husband started praying!
Luke and Elder Childs invited this family to come to church but let them know it was actually Stake Conference and so it was a little distance. They told them they would find them a ride. Well they called around and couldn't find anyone to give them a ride! Finally their good friend Matias called them back and said "What do you need elders? I'm at your service!" So he picked them up and they were waiting outside ready to go! They loved church and the wife sang her heart out during the hymns and she even sang with the choir :) ha ha ha. It wasn't exactly on key but Luke was just happy to see she was enjoying the meeting :)
We didn't get to talk long because I was in Utah with Emma, but it sounds like Elder Rose had a great week!
