Elder Childs is getting transferred! :( Finished the Book of Mormon in Spanish!!!

 Luke was excited to announce that he finished the Book of Mormon in Spanish for his first time!!!!  What a great accomplishment!  And he highlighted references to Christ and so now his scripture marking pencils are worn and well used :)

Gustavo and Natalia are doing great and it feels like they are just one of the ward members now.  The bishop told them the ward would love to help put on a wedding for them and so that is going to be exciting and one step closer to baptism!  Luke said they saw miracles with them this week.  For example they invited one member to meet with them and come to find out the lady is a school teacher and has worked with kids with autism and so she completely understood their circumstance with their autistic son.  God really knows how to put the right people in the right place for his work to move forward!!!  

Well transfers are actually happening today and so Elder Childs is leaving.  :(  I know he and Luke had a great time together!  So it is sad, but Luke is super excited to be able to serve with his friend Elder Backman!!!  They have been friends through out the mission and so they are both excited to have the opportunity to be together!  Luke said he feels like he has been so blessed because he has loved every one of his companions.  So grateful that he has made so many friends that he will have for life!  Man missions are amazing!

Goodbye to old friends, hello to new companion - Elder Suarez!

 Luke's good friend Elder Rodriguez finished his mission and left this week!  This is the Elder that is friends with our neighbors up the street, the Wasiks!  And then Luke got to welcome 5 new missionaries!  So fun to be in this position right now to say goodbye's and to welcome the new ones!  Next week is going to be a tear-filled one as he has to say goodbye to his beloved mission president and his sweet wife!   One funny thing happened while they were at the airport.  There was a transgender man there in a dress.  As they walked by President Reber said to Luke and his companion "Nice dress!"  ha ha ha, Luke got a kick out of that! :)  Luke is loving his new companion Elder Suarez.  He is so kind and loving toward people and a great guy.  He is from Paraguay so he has a soft spot in my heart because my brother Tyler served in Paraguay!   That's about it from the week.  Busy busy but doing great! A Warm Welcome from a 9 Year Old

 Luke said that it was so sweet because someone they went to teach had a 9 year old that made him a necklace and a little note that said "Thanks for coming to make a happy family."  What a sweet sentiment.  it warmed Luke's heart and he said he'll keep it forever!
