A Quick Chat with Elder Rose

 Today was so busy between Luke getting his hair cut and playing soccer with his zone, and me playing Pickleball and running errands, we only got to talk for a bit.  But Elder Rose is in good spirits and loving his new area.  

The funniest thing is that Natalia, a sister from his first area, who thinks Elder Rose is her adopted son, drove to his ward on Sunday to see him!!!  She was so excited that he got transferred closer and so she made the trip and brought 2 of her kids.  Funny thing is that Luke was speaking on Sunday so she also got to hear him speak! :)  He said it was so fun to see her.

There is a family they have been teaching, the Veron family, that Luke and his companion were considering dropping because they weren't keeping their commitments.  But then they surprised them and came to church!!!!   

Also an update on their friend Francisca, she is still doing great with her goal to stop smoking and she has accepted to be baptized!  Can't wait to hear about that baptism soon!  

So things are going great...a couple of funny things they were walking along and there was this HUGE lizard of some sort that just walked out in front of them from the little canal/ditch.  Luke sent a video and it was about 3 feet long!  Yikes!  And he also told us that on Saturday for the World Cup Argentina played Mexico and there was NO ONE out on the streets :)  They love their soccer!  

What a great week!

Goodbye to old friends, hello to new companion - Elder Suarez!

 Luke's good friend Elder Rodriguez finished his mission and left this week!  This is the Elder that is friends with our neighbors up the street, the Wasiks!  And then Luke got to welcome 5 new missionaries!  So fun to be in this position right now to say goodbye's and to welcome the new ones!  Next week is going to be a tear-filled one as he has to say goodbye to his beloved mission president and his sweet wife!   One funny thing happened while they were at the airport.  There was a transgender man there in a dress.  As they walked by President Reber said to Luke and his companion "Nice dress!"  ha ha ha, Luke got a kick out of that! :)  Luke is loving his new companion Elder Suarez.  He is so kind and loving toward people and a great guy.  He is from Paraguay so he has a soft spot in my heart because my brother Tyler served in Paraguay!   That's about it from the week.  Busy busy but doing great! A Warm Welcome from a 9 Year Old

 Luke said that it was so sweet because someone they went to teach had a 9 year old that made him a necklace and a little note that said "Thanks for coming to make a happy family."  What a sweet sentiment.  it warmed Luke's heart and he said he'll keep it forever!
