Sick Week :(
This picture just breaks my heart! Poor Luke was sick this week. He had all kinds of symptoms, fever, aches, sore throat, diarrhea, etc. So most of the week he was home in bed. He said on Wednesday he felt so horrible he was sure he was going to be sent home. He felt like he was hallucinating! He wanted to pick up the phone and call me. Poor Baby!!!!
He sounded much better today and so I think he is on the mend! Thank goodness. So because they couldn't go out not much happened. He did say Ernesto and Ramona are supposed to go get their marriage certificate paperwork figured out today and then they will be getting married and Luke and his companion get to be witnesses! So exciting!
They met a new lady named Marina that is golden. They were looking at past records and saw a yellow dot meaning someone had contacted someone so they went to follow up. They actually couldn't find the person but Marina was the neighbor and they knocked on her door to see if she knew anything about them. She didn't but they got talking to her and taught her! She even came to church! She has 4 kids and actually Sunday her kids had a soccer tournament but she wanted to come to church so she dropped them off then came to church. Luke was sad the kids couldn't come and asked if they always have soccer on Sundays. She said it all depended on this tournament. If they lost then there wouldn't be anymore Sundays. So Luke was secretly hoping they would lose :) When they went to visit them later the kids were sad and said they lost - in English Luke said "Let's Go!" and then told them sorry in Spanish :) So I can't wait to see what happens with Marina and her conversion journey she has just started!
Then Maria, the lady that they met because she was out in front of the church taking pictures, has continued to progress. In fact she is golden! She reads and reads. She had met with the missionaries before and she read all the pamphlets, so in their discussion she knew everything they were teaching her! She attended Fast and Testimony meeting last Sunday and said she felt the Spirit so strong that she was in tears during each person's testimony that got up!
So there are a lot of great things going on even with Luke's sickness this week. In fact they had 8 people at church!
They did have one crazy experience...a member had them over for lunch and her cousin happened to be there. She had to leave to drop her kids off somewhere so she told them to share a scripture with her cousin while she was gone. After she left they asked what he did for work and he told them it was kind of illegal. He told them he smuggles contraband from Paraguay to Argentina. He even showed them a video of them with black masks on running and cops shooting at them. Um OK - talk about crazy! Then they tried to share a message with him but the guy started bashing with them. Luke wasn't exactly feeling well and didn't have the energy to be attacked like this so he just got up and told them it was nice to meet him and they needed to leave. Crazy!
So there you go, kind of a downer week but Elder Rose was still in good spirits today!
