A baptism, an upcoming transfer, and a little bit of sickness...
Luke had a great week, although he has still been battling sickness. He would work all day and by evening he had a fever again and would be so exhausted and crash! His fever even got up to 103 one day! So he is going to check in with the doctor this week and I'm hoping they can help him get over this crud.
Saturday was exciting for he and his companion because their friend Alexis got baptized!!!
And then they continued to meet with the cute couple Ernesto and Ramona. They were so sad to hear that Elder Steuer is leaving. They took them to lunch on Monday and I got to face time with them and meet them! That was so fun and they went on and on about how much they love Luke and that he is like a grandson to them. Elder Steuer gave Ernesto a tie that has an eagle and an American flag on it. He told him to wear it the day of his baptism. Then Ernesto gave one to Elder Steuer and on to Luke :)
They are still meeting with Juan's son Gustavo (Juan is the awesome convert of a few months and is on fire! He is constantly going on splits and helping the elders.) And then they are still meeting with Brenda and her boyfriend Jorge. They are working on them getting married. That is such an obstacle for so many people that Luke has taught. They live together for years and years and never marry! Luke said it was so funny because they were talking to Jorge about getting married, Brenda is already to do it. He was dragging his feet a little and she said "Is there anyone else in the church that you think will want to marry me?" ha ha ha! Not exactly where they wanted to go with the whole marriage conversation. But at least it helped Jorge realize he needs to take the leap of faith.
Then it was funny because they were reviewing the 10 commandments and Elder Steuer had little hand motions for each commandment. Brenda was a little nervous and said "Do I have to have all those hand signals memorized to be a member of the church?" :)
It's great to hear he had a good week despite feeling a bit under the weather. Hoping he can get better soon! He has a new companion, Elder Reyes, coming on Tuesday. He has loved his time with Elder Steuer but he is excited to serve with Elder Reyes. He and Luke came to the mission the same time. Can't wait to hear about the next experiences he has!
