Hello from Reconquista, Santa Fe Argentina

Hey all! Sorry I have not written an email in sooooo long. I am currently in my second area in Reconquista, Santa Fe Argentina and I am having a good time! Lots of miracles and blessings along the way. I learned a lot in Corrientes and my experiences there. I am extremely grateful for all my companions and people I met that have changed my life and especially for the Savior Jesus Christ.

I want to share an experience I had this week:
We received a reference from a member that was in the hospital visiting someone. The other Elders in Reconquista went by to give a priesthood blessing to this person and while they were there visiting, someone in the hospital room next door saw the Elders and asked the member if they could visit him. His mom had cancer and was going into Hospice that very day. They lived in our area and so we were going to visit him the next day. Elder Moulton, my companion, was feeling sick all week so we couldn´t get outside and visit people a ton. We were in the apartment and I felt a strong prompting that we had to visit this guy and his mother. I prayed about it to see if I really needed to wake up my sick comp and head out to visit this family and I felt that we needed to go right that minute. So we headed out and got to the house. Immediately we enter and see his mother, absolutely bone thin, struggling to breathe and just suffering. We gave her a priesthood blessing and afterwards taught part of the plan of Salvation about the resurrection that we will all have thanks to Jesus Christ. It was a good lesson but Carlos, the son, was kind of just listening and not really comprehending the doctrines we were teaching him. We left a pamphlet of the plan of Salvation for them, even though Carlos cannot read. We told him to look at the pictures and pray about it. Juana, the mother was barely conscious and so we did not think to give her any sort of invitation.

We came back every single day during the next week and shared little lessons to bring peace to their home. One day we started to teach about how we believe in doing baptisms for the dead and eternal families and this time Carlos was very attentive. Juana was listening, but was suffering more than anything. That night, Carlos sent us a text that his mother died. He was crushed and did not want us to come over for a bit. We were kind of down and feeling bad about the tough situation and praying for them. He sent us a text 20 minutes later that actually, he would love us to come visit him when we could. We had a temple video that we love sharing with people here that has subtitles in Spanish, but it is a temple tour with Elder Bednar and Rasband. The problem is that Carlos can´t read so we had to think of something to do to help him. Sooooo me and Elder Moulton spent our studies and another hour translating and voice overing the whole 11 minute video in Spanish! We edited the video and ran over to share it with him. The spirit was so powerful. He had so many great questions for us and at the end, shared with us an absolute miracle.

Juana in her last night told Carlos that she wanted to be a member of our church and be baptized. She read the pamphlet of the plan of salvation that we left every single day of the last week of her life. She told Carlos that she felt what we shared was truth and gave her so much peace in her last week on earth. She had been a hard nosed lady her entire life he told us. She was never opened to church or any sort of thing with religion, but told Carlos she wanted us to go to the temple and have her work done for her. It was so powerful. She ended up passing away with the little pamphlet with the resurrected Jesus Christ on the cover under her pillow. Carlos told us that he wanted to be baptized and came to church this last Sunday.

I know this gospel is true. Jesus Christ lives, we will all be resurrected and see our families again if we follow the covenant path and endure to the end. I love the Savior.
