Hard Week

This week Luke's companion, Elder Moulton, was sick and so they had to stay in most of the week.  That is hard to do as a missionary.  It is very exhausting mentally and physically to be cooped up all week.  He did get out on exchanges a couple of times.

He also got to go to Zone conference and so that was something to look forward to.  Then he shared something so special with us.  He was in the office and saw Elder Chamberlain, one of the couple missionaries that used to be in his District.  He stopped in and talked to Elder Chamberlain and apologized for him because he knew Elder Chamberlain was having a very hard time while he was in Luke's District and Luke felt like he didn't do enough to reach out and help him while he was struggling.  Elder Chamberlain opened up and told Luke what a hard time it was.  They both sat there and talked about some of their trials they have had and both were in tears as they had this heart to heart.

Then he told Luke that he reminded him of himself.  He too didn't like authority and rules and showed him a picture of himself before he went out on the mission with a long mustache and him riding a motorcycle.  Luke really bonded with him and felt the Spirit lift him up, grateful after the hard week he had.

I love that missions give you the opportunity to learn from so many great role models.  Also you have such deep and meaningful conversations with people that are strangers at first and then you get so close to people so fast!
