Hard Week

Image
This week Luke's companion, Elder Moulton, was sick and so they had to stay in most of the week.  That is hard to do as a missionary.  It is very exhausting mentally and physically to be cooped up all week.  He did get out on exchanges a couple of times.  He also got to go to Zone conference and so that was something to look forward to.  Then he shared something so special with us.  He was in the office and saw Elder Chamberlain, one of the couple missionaries that used to be in his District.  He stopped in and talked to Elder Chamberlain and apologized for him because he knew Elder Chamberlain was having a very hard time while he was in Luke's District and Luke felt like he didn't do enough to reach out and help him while he was struggling.  Elder Chamberlain opened up and told Luke what a hard time it was.  They both sat there and talked about some of their trials they have had and both were in tears as they had this heart to heart....

Today for P-day Luke and his district bought some meat and had a little barbeque!  I love that he is like his dad and loves his meat :)

Pig Chasing....

Image
Luke had one of those, "I've lost my mind" moments when he was out walking around and saw a pig in a field.  He gave the phone to his companion and said "Video this..."  And off he ran into the field to chase the pig!!! ha ha ha!  I don't know what he was thinking.  I don't think he was thinking.   All of a sudden as he is chasing the pig the owner came out and started yelling at Luke.  Not just yelling, screaming all kinds of cuss words at him!  So they hurried and left.  His poor companion was very shook up and was sure they were going to get sent home :)  Luke called his president and told him that he did something very stupid.  I'm sure the president was very worried when he heard that.  He was probably relieved when Luke said he chased a pig :)  His president told him to forget about it and don't let it ruin his day, but not to chase pigs ever again.  But he also told him he needed to go back and apologize ...

Luke's first week in Santa Fe

Image
Nellie, Valentina, Anna, Elder Moulton & Elder Rose We talked to Luke today and were excited to hear that he is LOVING his new area!  He couldn't wait to share the miracles that he experienced this week.  He and his companion were looking over their area book and Luke noticed some yellow  dots next to some names indicating that they were interested.  He also noticed that they had come to church twice already!  So he asked about them and they were two kids, one that is almost 9 years old and a girl that is 14 years old, Valentina and Anna.  Their grandmother Nellie is a very active member of the church.  In fact she feeds the missionaries lunch every Wednesday.  So Luke and his companion went over for lunch and her 2 granddaughters happened to show up during their lunch.  But Luke and his companion knew that they needed permission from the kid's parents in order to be taught.  Instead of teaching them the gospel they invited them to a...
