Not much going on in the area....but Luke has mastered stick shift :)

Well Luke needs our prayers.  His area is very hard and so far they haven't had much success.  But I remember on my mission when I was struggling, my family fasted for me and I felt that power lift me up and we found success.  So this fast Sunday we are fasting for Luke, that he will find those who are ready to hear the gospel!  They might not be finding anyone right now, but one success is Luke has mastered driving a stick shift and now wants one when he gets home :)  ha ha ha!  I'm so glad to hear that too because I was worried about him driving around the streets that he says are a "free for all" without traffic lights etc.  Yikes!  So knowing he is doing better at driving stick calms my fears a bit :) I loved hearing Luke reflect on his mission and what he has learned.  He said a few things that stand out (and hopefully I'm close to how he said it...) Missions change you and let's you know you can be better and so can everyone else. Missi...

Gustavo and Natalia got baptized!!! And a little reunion in his first area!

What a week!  So many exchanges that Luke couldn't even keep track!  There are 10 zones in the mission and Luke and his companion have to go on exchanges with each set of zone leaders each transfer.   He said it is exhausting because there is such expectations when they do exchanges, the missionaries get excited to be with the AP's and expect to learn something, and Luke is just exhausted and wants to rest. :)  But he is loving it.  One perk is that he was able to go to his first area this week!  It was exciting to see how people were doing.  And of course Natalia, his second mom, was so excited to see him again!   The real exciting news this week was that Gustavo and Natalia got baptized!!!!  So excited for them!  They worked so hard to get to this point and they finally got to enter the waters of baptism and make a covenant with Heavenly Father!  What a huge blessing!  Elder Backman told Luke it was so funny b...

Luke's first week as an AP....hard work, no sleep!

It was so fun to hear Luke talk about all the things he got to do this week and the things he is learning now that he is an AP.  (Assistant to the President)  First he said this week he got NO SLEEP!!!  The very first morning he had to wake up at 3:30 am to drive the missionaries going home to the airport and then  to pick up the new missionaries coming in.  He said he got the chills seeing these new missionaries get off the plane.  He remembers that day so well when he first arrived and all the emotions that go with it.  Also he has to learn to drive a stick shift and today was his first attempt.  He said it's not too bad, he only stalled once.  It's a little stressful because there aren't any traffic lights and so it's a little bit crazy!  But he'll get it! :)  As APs they need to go on 11 exchanges this transfer.  So this week he already had 2.  He got to go to Bario Quatro and saw Ellie, one of the sisters that g...
