1 Year Anniversary and Best day of the mission....Renata & Constanza and Cristian & Gustavo's Baptism

Image
Today was a crazy Monday between Luke busy celebrating one year in the mission and having a barbeque, and us having school off and running around having fun, we didn't get to talk much.  BUT I did find out that Renata and Constanza got baptized and so did Cristian and Gustavo!!!!  What an amazing day to have 4 people baptized!  And I know it meant so much to Luke's friend Juan, who is so faithful and loves the gospel so much, and so to see his son get baptized was a special day!!!!  And he got to baptize him!   Renata and Constanza's grandpa got to baptize them and their parents even came to the baptism.   What a beautiful day!!!

"I love my mission!"

Luke was so pumped about the awesome week he had and I loved to hear him say "I love my mission!"  He is in a great area, with a great companion, with great people to teach.  He is worried he is going to get transferred next transfer because he said missionaries can't stay in this heavenly area for too long :)  They just get a taste and then have to move on.  :) So many people to update about.... First great news....Linfia got baptized!!!  I think it's actually Limpia which in Spanish means clean.  And then her last name in Spanish is pure!  (Can't remember what Luke said the last name is.) And Luke said the name is very fitting.  Limpia is actually Luke's landlord and she is awesome.  They were almost finished with the lessons this week and were getting her ready for her baptism and then they taught her about tithing and that worried her!  Luke is used to the law of chastity or something else worrying them but not the law of tithi...

Growing and Changing

Luke and his companion, Elder Reyes, were trying to charge their bus card, but their cards were not working.  They didn't have any cash with them and that seemed to be the only payment they were accepting while their system was down.  A sweet lady was behind them and saw their predicament and went and paid 500 pesos for them to charge their card!  How sweet!  They were so grateful and got the woman's number.  They are excited to follow up with her and pay her back but also share the message of the restored gospel with someone that blessed their life so much!  What a cool tender mercy.  I love when people are so good and kind.  Especially when one of my kids is the recipient!  This week Luke felt the pressure of being a leader.  There always seems to be some kind of surprise situation to deal with and make a decision about.  This time the elders that are quite far away, like 9 hours by bus, called and were locked out of their a...

Busiest Week of the Mission & New Companion - Elder Reyes!!!

Thankfully Luke was feeling better this week.  It's a good thing too because this was the busiest week of his mission!  It's no joke having the biggest zone of the mission with 24 missionaries!  It keeps you on your toes! Tuesday was transfers and so it was a lot of making sure missionaries got to where they needed to be etc.  The office elders wanted Luke to just sit in the bus station for 8 hours to make sure everyone got to where they needed to be.  Luke didn't really do that, but things still went smoothly. Luke's new companion is Elder Reyes from Bakersfield, CA.  He is a stud!  We got to meet him this morning on the call and he just glows!  He seems like the happiest and most loving companion.  Luke is so excited to be serving with him.  Elder Reyes has an older brother that served here  in Atlanta!  Luke said he loves how Elder Reyes helps them stay focused on the Savior.  When they are planning and working he...
