Luke's release with President Watson

Image
President Watson was so amazing when we went to his house for Luke's mission release. He made it so special and the Spirit was so strong. He started out asking Luke some questions. He asked: What was your least favorite food? Mondongo - the stomach lining of a cow Favorite food? Asado vacio and matambre la pizza Least favorite companion? Elder Moulton - at first they were so different that it made it difficult. But then Luke realized that they didn't have the same goal and that's why they weren't getting along. But then when they started to have the same goals they were able to have more unity. Favorite companion? Elder Reyes - Luke was with him twice. The reason Luke loved him is because they were so focused and had the same goals of helping the area and helping the ward. They knew what was the most important thing together, bringing people to Christ. Spiritual experience? Luke talked about his experience with Manuel. He said "We had some plans to go t...

ELDER ROSE IS HOME!!!!!

I don't know if I can adequately put into words the joy I felt today when Luke got home! MAN it was AMAZING!!!! In fact I might have to write this whole post in all caps :) ha ha ha. No but really it was a very special day today. Wow, two years really is a long time. To think back on the things that were going on when he left, man that was a long time ago! This morning we went to the airport around 4:00 am because he was getting in at 5:00 am. I was so nervous that we were going to sleep in and miss him so we weren't going to go to sleep at all. We worked on a poster for him, made cookies, and were cleaning the house. Around 1:00 am we were all very tired and decided a couple of hours would do us good. So we went to bed and got up around 3:30 am. We got to the airport in plenty of time and started waiting for Luke's arrival. We waited and waited and finally got a call from Luke telling us that he was stuck in customs and there was quite the line. At least we k...

Goodbye Argentina!!!!

Well he's on his way home!!!!  And what got me even more excited was seeing these last pictures, some that were posted on Facebook by the Barlow's and some Luke put in his mission photo album.  I'm so excited for Luke to get home but at the same time my heart is breaking for him as he has to say goodbye to all of his good friends on the mission.  Counting down the hours!

Lunch and a Fireside with Brad Wilcox!!!

Image
Luke had the awesome opportunity to have lunch with Brad Wilcox and his wife.  He said it was so awesome because they took time to have scripture study together and he learned so much!  What an amazing opportunity!  And then he got to go to the fireside that night because they had a young single adult investigator that went with them.  What a great way to end the mission!

Our LAST call with Elder Rose!!!!

What a fun last phone call!  Luke and and his companion, the office missionaries, and President and Sister Barlow all went on a little run across a bridge and then they called us right after!  So we also got to talk to President and Sister Barlow.  They told us how much they were going to miss him.  They said "He has been like a father to us!"  :) ha ha ha not a son but a father because he has taught them so much.  I thought that was cute! :) Luke had a great week and got to give his final testimony in all the Zone Conferences.  And then he was surprised because the Bishop, who never gives the missionaries time in church to bear their testimony, called Luke up and give his testimony.  That was so awesome!   And now he is in a threesome with Elder Camacho and Elder Suarez, so he is having a good time.  This week is packed with all kinds of exciting things...they are working on the transfer board, they are going to have lunch wi...
